Koo Kyo Hwan Bags the Rookie of the Year Award At The “Blue Dragon Series Awards”

Koo Kyo Hwan was hailed as the best rookie at the recently concluded Blue Dragon Series Awards.

The actor won the prestigious award in the drama category for the Netflix Series D.P. The awarding ceremony was held at the Paradise City Chroma in Incheon, on July 19.

The Blue Dragon Series Awards is an awarding ceremony for high-quality content provided by Korea’s first global streaming service. It mainly targets Korean dramas and entertainment that was produced and invested by Netflix, Disney+ (Plus), Season, Apple TV+ (Plus), Watcha, Wavve, Kakao TV, Coupang Play, and TVing.

Additionally, the awards ceremony was broadcast live on LG U+ and Naver NOW.


Koo Kyo Hwan as Han Ho Yul 

In August 2021, D.P was aired on Netflix and viewers raved about it for its strong portrayals and excellent plot. The drama focuses on the military service escape arrest group that catches deserters.

In the series, Koo plays Ho-yul, the skillful leader of the D.P group. Ho-yul is very clumsy, but he was loved for his delightful character. His unique presence in the series gave a new flavor to the play.

“I will continue to act as if I were meeting with viewers and dating for the first time while misunderstanding the meaning of giving the Rookie of the Year award as a new actor,” said Kyo Hwan

Moreover, Koo Kyo Hwan also won several awards such as the Best Male Actor Award in the Television Category at the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards held in May.

Meanwhile, he is currently working on new projects such as Escape, The Gray, and Kill Bok Soon. He also is confirmed to appear again in the second season of D.P  The airing date is soon to be released.
