Chaos takes place with the failed sealing ceremony, leading to the death of people whom Cheon Gi and Ha Ram cherish.
Prince Joohyang exiles Prince Yangmyeong after the unsuccessful sealing ceremony. He also arrests people from the Baekyu Painters Society, including Cheon Gi’s father, Hong Eun O. Hearing that news, Cheon Gi rushes to find her father, falling into Prince Joohyang’s trap.

Lovers of the Red Sky Episode 14 Key Moments
“In a world I could not see, you were my one and only shining star.”
With the divine ritual sword, Prince Yangmyeong is able to contain the demon inside Scholar Ha. The sword has an impact both on the Prince and Scholar Ha, but both of them survive.
Scholar Ha awakens, and together with Cheon Gi, they escape the scene. The Tiger Spirit interferes with the arrow of Prince Joohyang aimed at the two who are escaping.
They arrive at a safe place, and Scholar Ha tends to Cheon Gi who is overwhelmed with the recent events.
“Great power clouds your mind and makes you greedy.”
Mi Su clarifies that even though Scholar Ha has the ring, he can still be consumed by the demon. With that, they see the need for another sealing ceremony, which may involve Cheon Gi again for the painting of the King’s portrait.
Prince Yangmyeong shares to the unconscious King what happened to the sealing ceremony, pleading for him to wake up soon. The Prince talks to Wol Sun on his way out of the room, and wonders about the reason why the divine painting was torn. He also meets Prince Joohyang, who orders his exile as punishment for the failed sealing ceremony.
“If I could keep you safe by staying away from you, I would push you away a million times.”
With the tip of Jung Seon Rye, Prince Joohyang orders the arrest of the people from Baekyu Painters Society, including Hong Eun O. Such arrest is a trap set to lure Cheon Gi, as well as Scholar Ha.
News arrives to Scholar Ha, and he intends on hiding that fact from Cheon Gi. However, Mae Hyang informs Cheon Gi about the arrest. Cheon Gi runs away from the safe place, worried for her father. Reacting the way Prince Joohyang has predicted, Cheon Gi along with her father gets locked up in the Prince’s place.
“The heavens will not abandon us like that.”
Scholar Ha hears from Mae Hyang that she informed Cheon Gi about what happened to the Baekyu Painters Society. He feels disappointed and becomes eager to rescue Cheon Gi who came for her father. Mae Hyang tries to stop Scholar Ha’s impulsive decision, reminding him of their plans of revenge, but this does not stop him.
“You do know that our wish cannot come true overnight. I have no intention of sacrificing innocent people to make our wish come true.”
Together with Moo Young and their people, they enter Prince Joohyang’s place to rescue Cheon Gi and her father, Eun O. They successfully free Cheon Gi and her father, but Prince Joohyang’s arrows strike Cheon Gi’s father when they are about to escape.
Moo Young stays to fight Prince Joohyang’s people and offers his life just to assure that Scholar Ha, Cheon Gi and her father can escape. Hong Eun O dies from the poisonous arrow and recognizes his daughter before his death.
“You can blame and resent me. Feel free to do that. But I can’t let you go.”
Still mourning for her father’s death, Cheon Gi hears about the pending execution of the people from Baekyu Painters Society. She panics and comes into an argument with Scholar Ha as she wishes to go out to save her peers. However, Scholar Ha tries to calm her down since that execution is an obvious trap set by Prince Joohyang.
By the end of the episode, the King meets with Scholar Ha, as he is awakened through the power of a spirit.
Lovers of the Red Sky Episode 14 Musings
Despite being allies with Scholar Ha, Mae Hyang’s attitude towards Cheon Gi causes trouble for Cheon Gi as well as for Scholar Ha and Moo Young. Knowing how Cheon Gi would react, it has been advantageous to Prince Joohyang.
It’s frustrating to see how Cheon Gi keeps falling into the traps of Prince Joohyang, but it is also understandable since people who are dear to her are at stake. Prince Joohyang’s plans are well thought of, but we can predict that all that has an end too.
With regards to the sealing ceremony, Scholar Ha, Cheon Gi, and Prince Yangmyeong have all put them at risk. Scholar Ha cannot contain the demon for too long as he can be consumed by the demon. Cheon Gi’s sanity is at risk as she completes the portrait. Prince Yangmyeong may die along with the person whom he uses the ritual sword with.
With all the recent events, such makes viewers wonder whether there is a way where none of them will be harmed. The King has woken up, and the preview hints that he will be able to take control again of Prince Joohyang.
In the next episode, we shall look forward to the turnout of the pending execution of the people of the Baekyu Painters Society. We are getting closer to the ending, so we would see what consequences on Ha Ram and Cheon Gi will be with the preparation and the execution of the new sealing ceremony.
