Lovers of the Red Sky Episode Finale Key Moments

“It is all up to the will of the heavens.”

Unexpected to meet with the King, Scholar Ha feels shocked after confirming the King’s identity. He asks how the King knew about the Wolseongdang request box, but Prince Yangmyeong admits that it was him who dropped the message.

The King reveals to Scholar Ha that he has known that Scholar Ha has been moving as Ilwolseong ever since. He also corrects the misconception of Scholar Ha about his father’s death. When he was a child, the evil energy from the demon in his own body killed his father, not the investigator.

After comforting and apologizing to Scholar Ha, they all come to stop Prince Joohyang from executing the people from Baekyu Painters Society.

“Whether it snows or rains, I will stay by your side.”

People from the Baekyu Painters Society are saved from being executed. The King hears from Prince Joohyang himself about the reasons for his actions, but still puts him in prison. Meanwhile, Cheon Gi and Scholar Ha give Cheon Gi’s father a proper burial, spreading his ashes where Scholar Ha’s father is buried.

Cheon Gi meets with the Hwacha, and agrees to make a deal with him. She has trusted the Hwacha that she will not become insane like her father.

“Everything has found its rightful place.”

Mi Su is given a chance to redeem herself after being put into prison for teaming up with Prince Joohyang. As Wol Sun lost her divine powers, Mi Su is set to be the one to handle the new sealing ceremony.

Scholar Ha meets his grandfather in a dream, convincing him to break the divine ring, and attend the sealing ceremony.

The demon takes over Scholar Ha’s body, disrupts the ceremony, and collects its eyes from Cheon Gi. With that, Cheon Gi, who is blind, continues to paint. They complete the painting, and the Samsin along with the demon is sealed in the painting.

Mi Su dies after receiving damages from the demon, and Scholar Ha wakes up retrieving his sense of sight again.

“Your Highness, just as you showed us love, please do not forget to love your people.”

Five years later, Prince Yangmyeong remains to be the crown prince. Master Choi and Ms. Gyeonju are now officially together. Jung, Cheon Gi’s friend, receives a higher rank in Gohwawon while Sim Dae Yu leaves to travel the world.

As it is Cheon Gi and Ha Ram’s birthdays on the same day, they visit them living outside the city. Cheon Gi regained her sight, and she has a child with Ha Ram named Ha Joong.

“It’s not the same peach from back then, but I wanted to keep my promise.”

Prince Yangmyeong leaves early as he is informed about what is happening in the palace. Cheon Gi worries about the crown prince, but Ha Ram assures that the skies tell that everything will be alright.

Cheon Gi and Ha Ram visit a peach orchard, and Cheon Gi gives Ha Ram her sketches from before. She tells Ha Ram that compared to before, he now warmly smiles. Similar to when they were younger, they run away together after an angry woman comes to catch them.

Lovers of the Red Sky Episode Finale Musings

That revelation from the king was unexpected as like Ha Ram, we believed that the royal family is responsible for his father’s death. Ha Ram was unconscious all those times, which caused him to only remember about the investigator.

Compared to before, the finale changes how viewers perceive the royal family, especially the King. All along, he was not selfish, he cared for Ha Ram, and his nation.

Although Prince Joohyang is his son, he did not choose to free him by that mere connection of blood. His integrity proves how righteous he is as a king, and his son needs to reflect on his sins and greed.

Almost everyone had a warm ending as Cheon Gi and Ha Ram end up together with a child, and both of them are free from the curse of the demon. The lives of the people in the Baekyu Painters Society are evidently flourishing, and the crown prince remains warm-hearted.

However, in the epilogue, we see Prince Joohyang who has escaped from prison, causing havoc in the palace. This just opens up the discussion for a possibility of a sequel.

However, if we believe in Schola Ha’s readings from the sky, it may have implied that Prince Yangmyeong would succeed. Nonetheless, Lovers of the Red Sky has been an enjoyable drama series with its romance fantasy infused with politics and art.
