It’s Showtime!
With a very elegant stage, Cha Cha-Woong (Park Hae Jin) works as a magician, and many people are in awe of his magic tricks. Little did they know that his assistants are ghosts.
Born from a family of Shamans, Cha-Woong witnesses how his grandfather fight off bad spirits when he was still a teenage boy. However, there came a time when his grandfather was imprisoned because he wanted to help others.
Traumatized by what happened to his grandfather, he promised himself that he would never help other people again using his ability to see ghosts. Cha-Woong gains a lot of money and lives in a luxurious home with his assistant ghosts.
The Helmet Incident
During a performance, Cha-Woong was interrupted by Go Seul-hae, a police officer who mistakenly accused him of someone who took her helmet. She apologizes to him right away and leaves.
However, Seul-hae realizes that she got the wrong helmet. She came back to Cha-Woong’s place and exchanged the helmet with the one with an installed camera.
Later on, Cha-Woong becomes agitated because he’s aware that the installed camera in the helmet recorded his conversation with the ghosts. He feels uneasy because if everyone finds out that he’s talking to ghosts, his career is over.
Unfortunately, the person who owns the helmet dies from an accident. Seul-hae soon discovers that he can see ghosts and can communicate with them. Cha-Woong helps her in uncovering the reason for her neighbor’s death even though he’s not happy.
The General Spirit’s Visit
After Cha-Woong helped Seul-hae with the helmet incident, she persuades Cha-Woong to volunteer in their police division. He doesn’t have any interest in helping other people, but he was persuaded when the General Spirit visits him.
Choi-Gum (Jung Joon Ho) is known as the General Spirit that lived for 2,000 years. He visits Cha-Woong because he is fated to become a shaman. However, Cha-Woong doesn’t want to be involved with this kind of work.
That’s when Choi-Gum noticed that Cha-Woong’s virtue power rises when Seul-hae gives her a sincere thanks. Choi-Gum persuades him to work with Seul-hae to fill in the virtue power so that he can reach nirvana.
Gambling Addict
Leaving him with no choice, Cha-Woong is involved again with another case related to gambling. With the help of his assistant ghosts and Seul-hae, they work together as a team to seek clues to crack the case.
Cha-Woong and Seul-Hae disguise themselves as gamblers to look for the person behind the boss who stole millions of dollars from gambling. Even though their operation isn’t smooth as they expected, they still catch the culprit.
Ending the episode, the grandmother of Cha-Woong sense a spirit who is not alive nor dead. She got a feeling that a creature got free from its prison.
From Now On, Showtime! Episodes 1-4 Musings
Having four different genres, From Now On, Showtime! gives us a new touch of drama that we will enjoy and brings out a new type of thrill.
Starting from the dog and cat relationship of Cha-Woong and Seul-Hae, we can see that they have different personalities when it comes to helping other people. Cha-Woong doesn’t care about them when he wouldn’t get anything that can benefit him.
However, we can see that Cha-Woong seems to like Seul-hae differently and feels a little jealous of Hee-Soo (Seul-Hae’s colleague). We can expect that sooner or later we can witness the romantic part of the drama.
More than the tiny stories and their adventures in solving cases together to attain justice, there is a bigger dilemma that we should anticipate as we watch this drama. A more dangerous creature seems to be immersed below the ocean that causing havoc to everyone near it.
