Bad and Crazy Opening Week Story

Su-yeol’s Promotion Mission

Bent on achieving a promotion, Senior Inspector Ryu Su-yeol has to suck up corrupt seniors and politicians to achieve his goal.

That leads him to entanglement with Assemblyman Do Yu-gon who asked a favor to back up his cousin Do In-beom. The latter beat a young upright police officer who was led to investigate a missing woman when he met her young daughter In-sun.

While working on the assault case of In-beom, Su-yeol also meets In-sun. Together with his partner, they found out blatant foul plays in the case. However, as his promotion was pushed by Assemblyman Do, he proceeds with closing the case.

That is after a planted piece of evidence revealing a knife with Kyung-tae’s fingerprint was found at his place. The latter has been in a coma after In-beom sets his place ablaze thinking he has something that can implicate Assemblyman Do.

Crazy Guy Haunting Su-yeol

Apparently, In-sun’s missing mom, Jeong Yu-na, appears to be a police informant of a police officer who also died. His death is being pointed to another upright police officer from Narcotics and Violent Crimes that Su-yeol also handled. His ex-girlfriend, Lee Hee-gyeom, approached him about the fishy case, but then his promotion is all that matters.

During this time, a strange man wearing a helmet (K) keeps pestering Su-yeol to secure the real truth on Kyung-tae’s case. He keeps on leading him to engage in righteous and proper investigations.

From bringing him to where the minions of Do cousins are and securing the video evidence proving Assemblyman Do killed Yu-na; he was put in bouts of baffling encounters with K.

After his promotion to being a captain, their office gets a visit from reelected Assemblyman Do. Again K suddenly appears out of nowhere so he runs after him hurriedly. Shouting at Assemblyman Do, the helmet guy throws a kick on him like it’s the normal thing to do surprising all the witnesses in front of the building.

It turns out the K who just vaunted a kick on a revered politician is Ryu Su-yeol. Time stood still for all the people at the sight of the newly-promoted police officer’s disrespectful act on the renowned assemblyman.

Bad and Crazy Opening Week Musings

Bad and Crazy definitely got our attention with its quick and maverick narrative. Utilizing “alter self” on the story’s hero is one of the drawing points of the series.

Notably, the distinct use of Su-yeol’s alter ego not being the bright and good version of himself spurs the charm of his character.

His crazy aspiring-to-be-the-last-hero side projected to the helmet guy (Wi Ha Jun) makes an interesting tweak to a character perceived to have a dissociative disorder.

Bad and Crazy

Truly living up to its initial promise of riveting action scenes, the opening episodes fueled quite a pack of enthralling and hilarious scuffles for the hero of the story – against his unruly alter self. Likewise, when the helmet guy assumes his dominance on Su-yeol, he is also unstoppable in serving justice to villains.

It appears there will be multiple misdemeanor-apprehending activities that Su-yeol will be tackling since K has quite an ambition to protect the weak and the powerless as a hero. That’s definitely a reason worth signing up for in this 12-chapter series.

Lee Dong Wook and Wi Ha Joon are both amazing in their roles. Surely, more of them in their own world would make the audience happy.

Asking Santa to help Kyung-tae survive fast before the series ends is also a natural thing to do. We definitely want to see him back in action and get the payback he deserves. Notably, the child actress who portrayed In-sun left scene-stealing moments with her portrayal.

Next week’s episodes affirm more high-octane activities as Su-yeol and K delve more into Yuna’s case.
