“Death’s Game” Unveils Lee Jae Wook As Charismatic Prisoner

Death's Game Lee Jae Wook

Lee Jae Wook challenges the action scenes and emotional grit of his character in Death’s Game.

Death’s Game, based on a popular webtoon of the same name centers on Choi Yi-jae (Seo In Guk), who is down on his luck in every facet of his life. Overwhelmed with all of his failures, Yee-jae decides to take his own life and “control death.” Death (Park So Dam) then decides to punish Yi-jae and he is reincarnated 12 different times, living 12 different lives. As a part of his punishment, Yi-jae must stop their imminent deaths.

The extensive, star-studded cast also includes Kim Ji-hoon (The Flower of Evil), Choi Si-won (Love Is for Suckers), Sung Hoon (Woori the Virgin), Kim Kang-Hoon (Racket Boys), Jang Seung-jo (The Good Detective), Lee Jae-wook (Alchemy of Souls), Lee Do-hyun (The Glory), Go Youn-jung (Alchemy of Souls), Kim Jae-uck (Her Private Life), and Oh Jung-se (Revenant). The series is written and directed by Ha Byung-hoon, who previously directed 18 Again, Go Back Couple, and The Sound of My Heart.

Lee Jae Wook as Jo Tae-sang

Taking on the role of Jo Tae-sang, Lee Jae Wook is set to decorate a character different from his previous image.

Jo Tae-sang is an aspiring martial arts player who gave up his dream in childhood due to his poor family background. He lived without any particular goal, but for some reason, he was imprisoned and had been waiting for the day to be released.

In the released photo, you can feel Jo Tae-sang’s cool charisma that dominates the prison. Even among the numerous prisoners surrounding him, his eyes shine brightly, creating an immediate sense of tension. Look forward if Tae-sang will be able to get out safely from the prison where the violent atmosphere swirls.

In particular, most of Jo Tae-sang’s 8-on-1 prison fight scenes in the photo were performed by Lee Jae Wook himself. He went to action school and prepared for the character before filming, so he did the majority of the action scenes, including the fight scene, on his own without a double.

Not only that, but his stellar emotional acting is something to look forward to in Death’s Game.

The production team of Death’s Game conveys details about Lee’s preparations.

“Because harmony with the other actors is important for fight scenes, Lee Jae Wook also went through a lot of practice for each scene before filming. We matched the details of each hand gesture and foot movement to create the character. The production crew on site were all impressed as they watched him perform without any problems. We also think that another point to watch is that you can meet actor Lee Jae Wook who enhances immersion in the character through emotional acting that stands out for his unique control of strength and weakness.”
