“Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” Episode 7 Hints At Love Triangle Trend Among The People of Gongjin

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha

A variety show is confirmed to be shot in the beautiful town of Gongjin in the 7th episode of Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha. Along with that, romance stories are building up endearingly.

Crossing the middle mark of the series means a pivotal change to either the plot or the emotions of the characters. It looks like we will get both in this week’s episodes.

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha Episode 7 Key Moments

“It’s not like that. She’s just a friend I really care about.”

Staring at Hye-jin in a different romantic light, the spell was broken when Chief Hong almost fell off the water. A round of introductions occur as the girl, Du-sik saw the last two days, also entered the scene as the writer of the upcoming variety show.

Hye-jin also learned that her university senior has been acquainted with Chief Hong the past few days. Gongjin villagers welcome Sung-hyun who will soon be doing a show in their small town with food and drinks.

After the pleasantries, he catches up with Hye-jin and also clarifies the misunderstanding with Chief Hong. Trust gossip girl ajumma to give meaning to everything as he teases the two reunited university friends.

But Sung-hyun quickly dispels it, acknowledging Hye-jin is really a friend he cared about. Announcing she needs to go home, Sung-hyun obliges to walk her home. Chief Hong follows them since he knows Sung-hyun’s poor sense of direction to which Hye-jin agrees. In the past, she also helped her senior a lot of times when he got lost on campus.

“Let go of the delusion that everyone is interested in you.”

When she heard the two planning to have a second round of drinks, she invites herself to join them. At Chief Hong’s place, Sung-hyun marvels at his jar collection of liquors and teas.

He also learns that the space in the collection shelf is for a bottle of one-year-old ginseng which Hye-jin previously drank. Warning Chief Hong not to spill things about her especially what happened “that night”, the two bicker but stop when Sung-hyun gives them a quizzical look.

Fixing food and setting up the table, Chief Hong watches the two reunited friends reminisce about the old times and their old habits. Fascinated to hear Sung-hyun blab about Hye-jin’s kindheartedness in setting up a clinic in a small town, she gives Chief Hong a warning nudge.

Confirming he and Chief Hong are officially friends, Sung-hyun offers him to be the team’s guide for the show. To help with his decision, he offers they go for a round of games. Determined to cast him, Chief Hong pleads and agrees for Sung-hyun to stop with his parade of games.

“Do you want to eat ramyun?”

For the second time, gossip girl ajumma spots Hye-jin coming out of Chief Hong’s house and also sees Sung-hyun from her behind. The plot in her imagination thickens when Chief Hong appears asking Sung-hyun if he wants to eat ramyun with him.

After their ramyun breakfast, Chief Hong leads the variety show team in the area. However, the base camp that Sung-hyun wants to have belongs to Grandma Gam-ri and she does not want to lend it.

The next day, he continues to show kindness to Grandma Gam-ri with food and other items from the market. He also helps her with house chores and fixes the light in her house.

“I sometimes wondered if you were still running around in a hurry all the time and if you are sleeping and eating well. The 20-year-old Yoon Hye-jin I knew was always busy and stressed. But you don’t seem to be like that anymore. I’m glad.”

Mi-seon confirmed from Yoon-kyung that a resident of Gongjin won the lottery but the identity is still a mystery. That is actually the 3rd mystery of Gong-jin. That made her buy two lottery tickets and gave one to Eun-cheol. Meanwhile,

Hye-jin brings Grandma Gam-ri’s wallet when she found it in the clinic. Chief Hong drags her to wash grandma’s blankets traditionally with their feet. And they sure had a blast washing the sheets.

At night, Sung-hyun arrives with June and they were treated by Grandma Gam-ri with a hearty meal. The next day, Grandma Gam-ri agrees to lend her house and tasked Chief Hong to tell Sung-hyun. Hye-jin receives a surprise basket of food goodies from Sung-hyun when she wakes up.

They also have a heartening chat where Sung-hyun expressed feeling relieved that Hye-jin is now leading a happy and peaceful life. Briefing Sung-hyun with the conditions in renting out Grandma Gam-ri’s place, Chief Hong is surprised the director accepts all contract conditions.

When Sung-hyun asked if Hye-jin is seeing someone and Chief Hong replies none, the smile on Sung-hyun’s face brings a faint unfathomabale look on Chief Hong.

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha Episode 7 Musings

Behind his always-happy-and-here-to-help facade, Chief Hong is nursing the fear of being left behind. That explains why he wants to be a reliable and go-to person for everyone at Gongjin.

Because his solitary life hides behind the truth of the pain he has been bearing. An understandable contradiction to why he wants people to rely on him, but he does not want to do the same thing.

Like Mi-seon, it’s hard not to support how she gives meaning to the rotisserie chicken treat of Eun-cheol. For someone as inexpressive as him, it is already a big development to their side love story we definitely root for.

The love triangle trend is indeed on the horizon in Gongjin. I have an inkling that Hwajung has a serious reason why he divorced Yeong-guk and Cho-hui is definitely not part of it.

We can definitely sense a change of emotions from Chief Hong. But we are confident that our main leads being perceptive would not go to an awkward moment when all true feelings are out in the open.
