“If I say I want to be your boyfriend, will you let me?”

Huddling their friends for insights on their situations, both Woo-yeo and Lee Dam end up confronting the embrace they shared. Clearing she does not want to be misled, she nonchalantly responded not having any idea of him as her boyfriend. Unfortunately, Woo-yeo is not Lee Dam’s style.

But when her senior Gye Sun-woo persistently shows signs of getting closer with her, Lee Dam seeks help for her plan to disappoint Sun-woo’s intention. Citing the man she wants to turn down is born in the Year of Tiger, sealed the deal when Woo-yeo initially declined her offer.

Lee Dam’s plan is for them to go on a date to have a simulation of what she can do to disenchant Sun-woo. Pitching suggestions here and there, Woo-yeo rides on Dam’s practice date. Thanks to the observant gumiho, he seemed to have memorized all of Dam’s off-putting living behaviors.

From being messy to her bad eating habits and to her use of vulgar language, he had provided insightful thoughts. But it made Dam sad since she realized, she literally does not need to make an effort and just be herself.

Fortunately, luck is on Woo-yeo’s side and he was able to make her feel better by summoning his Joseon-trained archery skill to win a plush doll for her.

“You already know a lot about me. But I want my body fat to be a secret.”

Woo-yeo and Lee Dam bump with the exact person they were doing the simulation date for and barely escaped his insistent demand to be with Lee Dam. Eventually falling sick because of Sun-woo’s fleeting pat on her head which Woo-yeo did not like, she gets a quick treatment from him.

They agree to help each other in case something messes up to her weekend date with Sun-woo. She was momentarily put in a trance when she heard him say he will protect her. After tucking her to bed, Woo-yeo goes back to a sour mood remembering how Dam was pat on her head by Sun-woo.

“If you really want to be a human, I think you need to learn about their emotions.”

The next day, Lee Dam and Jae-jin stumble on Lee Dam’s lie. They discover her living arrangement but the situation was taken care of by Woo-yeo. However, Dam didn’t like how he easily decides to delete her brother and friend’s memories. She gives him a pep talk to be more empathizing if his ultimate goal is to become a human.

Rushing to their house, she finds her brother and their house fully occupied. Thus, she goes back to Woo-yeo’s house albeit with their previous spat. Conveying her farsightedness to how Woo-yeo has technically no one beside him, he tells her that he is comfortable living alone as he is not a human.

“I’m also okay being with you. Actually, I’m more than just okay with it.”

It’s weekend, and Lee Dam’s date with Sun-woo is set! Executing her plan, she brought him to a bench overlooking Han river as they ate jjajangmyeon takeout.

Meanwhile, Woo-yeo finds a response to the note he left from Dam. Just as he wrote he’s comfortable being with her, she responded that she, too, feels the same. She even shares the progress of her date with Sun-woo and promises to be home by dinner to eat with him.

Confident that her plan worked to make Sun-woo lost interest in her, Dam happily went home. Worried by the pouring rain and Dam not answering her phone, she sees him with an umbrella after getting off the bus. He made her promise to answer his messages or calls even when she is just beside him.

My Roommate Is A Gumiho Episode 3 Musings

You can’t help but love the interaction of the main leads in My Roommate is a Gumiho. I noticed it in the premiere week, but Kang Han Na and Jang Ki Yong as gumiho friends who only have each other in their long-existing world are seriously piles of bliss. Similarly, Hyeri and Kim Do Hwan also share an adorable friendship.

Dam is getting the best of supernatural and real worlds being the focus of two men. The endearing vibe and humor of the series would reel any viewers who may or may not be a fan of romantic comedy. It’s probably preparing for when the narrative bend confronts the expected conflict.

But for now, I’m totally enjoying the ride. This episode also presents the love triangle on the horizon among Dam, Woo-yeo and Sun-woo.

The witty lines, entrancing scenes and fluid narration keep your attention lock in the storytelling as well. If it keeps going at this rate, the creative team definitely deserves applause.
