Strangers Again Episodes 7 and 8 Highlights

Receiving a call from potential client Ga-eun, Eun-beom thinks that it was Ha-ra’s father’s mistress. Thus, he accidentally slips and his ex-wife picks up on it easily. Eun-beom agrees to meet Ga-eun so Ha-ra can confront her father. He also inadvertently stole her case since he knows that Ha-ra will be busy.

Apparently, her father is being harassed by the mother of his child and his indecent act has already gone viral in the university where he’s teaching. Confronting her father’s betrayal, Ha-ra declares she will prepare for the divorce of her parents and storms out of the office.

“Breaking up with someone who had an affair is basically blessing the two of them with happiness.”

Ha-ra’s mother vehemently refuses to divorce for the reason that it’s like blessing her husband and the third party for their misdeed. Sharing her concerns about her parents’ looming divorce does not sit well with Jae-gyum who strongly supports the divorce to succeed.

Later, those little annoying remarks made by Jae-gyum and his paranoia that she works at the same office as her ex-husband lead to the end of their relatively young relationship.

Meanwhile, Eun-beom struggles with the criminal case he took as it escalated from an assault to murder after the victim died. His ex-wife’s and friend’s problematic relationship is not helping at all with the career load he’s taking.

On the day Ha-ra facilitates her parents’ divorce, her half-sister shows up declaring her intention to live with her father. Distraught by her parents’ problem, Ha-ra calls Eun-beom in a desperate tone wanting to just die.

“Gu Eun-beom, I still love you. Do you want to get back together with me?”

Rescuing his ex-wife, Eun-beom patiently listens to her drunken blab about her sorry life. In the end, they end up staying the night without sleeping together.

It took Ha-ra a while to realize that her unresolved emotions with Eun-beom are still defined as love. But Bi-chwi and Jae-gyum already realized how her subconscious self always finds her ex-husband when she’s in trouble or needs someone.

Following Jae-gyum advice to be true to her situation and decisions; Ha-ra confessed to Eun-beom that she still loves him and asks if he can get together with her. Adding a clause that she’s willing to let go if he will reject him on the 10th instance, she tells him “I Love You” – Ha-ra’s persistent declarations of love ensue.

Amidst the case he’s working, Eun-beom worked diligently. However, he was not able to get probation but shortened the initial 15 years request of the prosecution to seven years.

Confronting Ha-ra’s 10th confession, Eun-beom agrees to get back together with her once again.

Strangers Again Episodes 7 and 8 Musings

Crossing the midpoint of Strangers Again, viewers rooting for Ha-ra and Eun-beom can now smile as they mutually decide to give their love a second chance. We knew it is the very reason why they can’t have the proper closure anyway, and week 4’s team rightfully complements the answer to why they can’t close their mutual lingering feelings.

To strongly love or hate someone at the same time means you are capable of feeling those emotions simultaneously or subsequently. Just like the court case tackled, it gave the perfect example of the dilemma that can happen in the spur of the moment when you hate someone but love the person at the same time.

The same goes for Ha-ra who hated Eun-beom for the pain left by their decision to divorce. But the feeling of loath is overpowered by the reality that she still loves him despite that pain.

Putting a spotlight on the scenarios of families wherein one of the parents had an affair, Strangers Again underscores the irreversible damage to the trust between the couple and the impact on the children especially if they highly respect their parents.

Moving to the next phase of their renewed romance, can Ha-ra and Eun-beom learn from their past mistake and sustain version 2 of their interrupted relationship? Also, Bi-chwi is hinted to be pregnant, and we can look forward to her decision if she will finally give mutual devotion a chance to prove that it can be possible for someone like her.
