In order to entirely prevent Lee San’s dethronement, Deok-im seeks the Queen’s assistance in episode 11 of The Red Sleeve.
Head Lady Cho uses the king’s illness to weaken his relationship with his grandson. Meanwhile, Deok-im locates the Document of Truth, which shows the King and the late Crown Prince’s agreement to protect Lee San and throne him.

The Red Sleeve Episode 11 Key Moments
“Why should I be a royal concubine if I love him? I do not want to live like that.”
Assuming that Queen Hong prepared the forbidden food, the King was meant to punish her, but Lee San protects her mother right away.
After hearing the terrible news from her friend, Deok-im rushed to Lee San, but she was not permitted to enter. Seeing Hong Deok-ro, she urges him to administer the ointment to the prince to help him feel better.
Afterwards, Deok-im feels frustrated because there is nothing she can do to help Lee San. Lady Seo comes out of the house where Court Lady Park is kept safe and sits beside her.
Noticing Deok-im’s frowning face, Lady Seo asks her why she refuses to be the prince’s royal concubine if she loves him so much.
Even though Deok-im loves him, she doesn’t want to live like a concubine. She also claims that concubines are forced not to complain and must keep their mouths shut.
“The man you call an old, sick king, who is not in his right mind is my grandfather.”
Returning to his chambers, Lee San’s guard informs him that Deok-ro has scheduled a meeting without his permission.
Due to the king’s recent outrageous behavior towards the prince, Deok-ro suggests they plot high treason against him. Lee San refuses to carry out his plan.
Instead, Lee San dismisses everyone in the room except for Deok-ro. He further tells him that the man he described as an old, sick monarch who is out of his mind is actually his grandfather, whom he cherishes.
Before dismissing Master Hong, Lee San swears to protect his grandfather even if the world seeks to bring him down.
“If the Crown Prince is dethroned, Princess Hwawan will be happy about it.”
Finally figuring out the three clues that lead to the exact location of the Document of Truth, Deok-im approaches the Queen as her last resort.
At first, the Queen refuses to take the risk because, regardless of whether Lee San or any other member of the royal family becomes the king, she will remain Queen Dowager.
Given Deok-im’s persistency, she begs her to help the Crown Prince, claiming that if he is dethroned, Princess Hwawan will be pleased.
Working successfully to persuade the Queen, Deok-im appreciates her generosity and informs her that it would be her last request of her. Simultaneously, she tells the queen about the secret document that will help the prince.
The Red Sleeve Episode 11 Musings
The Red Sleeve episode 11 depicted Deok-im’s consistent bravery and willingness to take a risk, yet despite her fearlessness, she expressed her vulnerable side for the first time.
Given that Deok-im is struggling to save Lee San, even through her belief that there’s nothing she can do, there is. We have witnessed in this episode that she possesses one of the clues to the secret document that is pivotal to Lee San’s survival.
Speaking of saving, we have to admire Deok-im for always being there to protect the prince, with no power she holds, she was able to save Lee San with her smart mind and flawless speaking ability.
Apparently, in the 11th episode of The Red Sleeve, Hong Deok-ro does not know when to obey Lee San. Making a decision prior to consulting the Crown Prince is clearly out of line.
On the contrary, we applaud Lee San for disciplining Deok-ro for his judgment and rebellious intentions. He knows how to manage himself and make appropriate decisions.
This inspires us to believe we are as courageous and wise as Deok-im and Lee San, as they have heralded in this chapter.
