Today’s Webtoon takes us again on another roller coaster of emotions as Im Dong-hee reaches his limit in pursuing his dream as well as the NEON Webtoon Team faces another downturn.
In this week’s episode, writer Baek Eo-jin’s longtime assistant, Im Dong-hee, who has been hoping for a debut for a very long time, thinks that he has finally reached his limit chasing his dream of becoming a professional webtoon artist.
Moreover, it seems like another problem for the NEON Webtoon team as Ji-hyung spots one of their main artists, Na Gang-nam, meeting with an assistant editor from Youngtoon.

Today’s Webtoon Mid-Series Highlights
“I’ve been an aspiring webtoon artist for ten years. I’m used to this now. But I may be able to take a leap this time.”
Early in the morning, Ma-eum bumped into writer Baek’s assistant for 10 years, Im Dong-hee. He happened to be capturing landscapes to use as a background for his webtoon.
Ma-eum went to talk to him. He then asks Ma-eum to read his webtoon sometime and give him honest feedback. Meanwhile, she went to visit writer Baek’s studio the next day. She totally forgot that Dong-hee had asked her to review his webtoon.
Also, she has to look after NEON’s rookie artists first and asks writer Baek if Dae-ryuk is doing well. Dae-ryuk is dedicated to his work, but he is socially awkward. That’s why he can’t communicate casually with others.
During lunch, he gets startled when writer Baek’s wife touches his shoulder, which seems like a traumatic response.
Eventually, Ma-eum read Dong-hee’s webtoon. However, she gives him vague feedback on Dong-hee’s webtoon, not considering that he was looking forward to hearing more from her.
“I could be like Mr. Baek someday. I had been fooling myself by telling myself that, a little more, I’ll make it if I try a little more, it means I just need a bit more time.”
Dong-hee went out for a drink with a friend and got drunk. Arriving at the studio to discover that he has lost yet another webtoon competition and had already given up hope.
He comes across Dae-ryuk’s laptop on the table and begins reading Dae-ryuk’s webtoon. He ends up getting chills after reading his webtoon.
Dong-hee is already jealous of Dae-ryuk because he not only has good skills but he feels like he is lucky and has a producer like Ma-eum. He envies Dae-ryuk because he seemed to be achieving his goal faster than him.
Blinded by jealousy and a sudden burst of rage, he broke his laptop and didn’t show up the next day. Dae-ryuk panics when he finds out that his laptop is broken and immediately calls Ma-eum. Thankfully, she has backed up most of his files.
“Just remember this one thing. In order to create something, you must look inward and continue to reflect on yourself. No matter how ugly or pathetic it is, you must face the truth about yourself.”
Furthermore, since writer Baek already knew what Dong-hee did, he decided to have a drink with him and gave him encouraging words. Dong-hee realizes that he should stop trying so hard and finally decides to stop drawing webtoons and just return to his hometown.
Dong-hee packs his things from writer Baek’s studio and thanks him for everything. He told his mentor that because of him he was able to dream. He bids farewell to his co-assistants, but Dae-ryuk is more surprised to see him leave.
He runs behind Dong-hee to return his laptop, but Dong-hee just smiled and said that he left it on purpose and gave his laptop to him. Moreover, Dae-ryuk is the only one who understood Dong-hee’s story, which made him happy. He also confesses and apologizes to Dae-ryuk for breaking his laptop.
“Do whatever it takes to persuade Na Gang-nam”
Ji-hyung and Ma-eum have to hide it from their colleagues that Na Gang-nam might leave NEON Webtoon.
However, Man-chul holds a meeting and informs his team that Youngtoon has been stealing artists from other platforms and that they should take care of their artists.
The team is worried and Man-chul noticed that there was something wrong with Ji-hyung and Ma-eum’s behavior.
Ma-eum is anxious and wants to visit writer Gang-nam, but Ji-hyung has already set up a meeting with him.
It turns out that Na Gang-nam has already been thinking about trying new things, but he hasn’t finalized anything yet.
“You’ll never be able to end Princess Kumiho”
Na Gang-nam has started drawing a new webtoon to try for Youngtoon. However, it turns out that he isn’t ready to let go of Princess Kumiho yet.
His girlfriend is happy that he can finally pay attention to her, but he seems distracted on their date. He kept on seeing San-ha or Princess Kumiho everywhere and felt like he was abandoning someone he cherished a lot.
His girlfriend gets mad at him and leaves him, saying that he can never stop drawing Princess Kumiho because he loves him more than her.
Meanwhile, Ji-hyung anxiously sits in the office and gets a sudden call from writer Gang-nam, which elevates his mood.
Writer Gang-nam has decided to continue writing Princess Kumiho while also trying a different webtoon at Youngtoon.
Today’s Webtoon Mid-Series Musings
It looks like Today’s Webtoon is slowly building up the tension and the conflict of the drama. With recent story development, it appears it’s not only Chief Heo who wants to bring down the NEON Webtoon team but also Youngtoon. Their offer to Ji-hyung to be a Chief Editor in Youngtoon will test Ji-hyung’s loyalty to NEON and also to Man-chul.
Also, in this week’s episode, we get a deeper glance at Dae-ryuk’s trauma, with his traumatic response every time he was touched by a woman it is obvious that he was abused when he was a child. Due to this, he finds it difficult to be around women.
Moreover, we get to know more about Jang Hye-mi a former member of Gingertoon and is now a Youngtoon assistant editor who happens to date Ji-hyung before. She is awfully manipulative, her ways of constantly pushing Ji-hyung’s buttons while acting sweet are frankly quite annoying.
Additionally, in more Jun-yeong and Ma-eum moments, it looks like they are spending more time with each other and he seems getting more comfortable around Ma-eum. Hoping in the next few episodes their friendship will grow even more.
Also, the mystery woman appears to be someone who knows Jun-yeong who also writes a webtoon by giving us a quick glimpse of Jun-yeong’s past. It is obvious that she died that’s why Jun-yeong was cold and stiff in the first episodes.
There are still a lot of pending revelations in this drama to unfold, and Today’s Webtoon is patiently taking its time to build up the story. There are a lot of things to know regarding Jun-yeong’s past and Dae-ryuk’s childhood trauma, and the real intention of Jang Hye-mi.
Adding to that is if Ji-hyung will accept Youngtoon’s offer, although we know that Ji-hyung is not the kind of a person who will be swayed with money.
Guess we’ll have to wait and see in the next episodes of Today’s Webtoon.
