Itaewon Class Quick Plot Recap

Park Saeroyi (Park Seo Joon) is expelled from high school after being embroiled with the Chairman‘s son and for refusing to comply with the Chairman’s advice to apologize for his son Jang Geun-won (Ahn Bo Hyun).

For this, his father resigns from the position he has in the Chairman‘s company in order to resolve the issue. Following that, one unfortunate night befalls Saeroyi when he learns of his father’s death in a car accident, an accident caused by Geun-won’s reckless driving. Oh Soo-ah (Kwon Nara) recognized the photo of the car that was handed to Saeroyi after seeing Geun-won parade it at their school.

Consequently, Saeroyi’s anger spiraled out of control because of covering up the true perpetrator of his father’s death, and he turned to assault Jang Geun-won. He was imprisoned for his actions.

After his release from prison, Saeroyi already had a long-term plan for his coup against Jangga Group, of which Jang Dae-hee (Yoo Jae Myung) is the CEO. Beginning with a small pub in Itaewon, he built and is currently attempting to make Dambam the number one food company in the country alongside Jo Yi-seo (Kim Da Mi), Choi Seung Kwon (Ryu Kyung Soo), Ma Hyeon-yi (Lee Joo Young), Jang Geun-soo (Kim Dong Hee), and Kim To-ni (Chris Lyon).

On The Implication How Small Offenses Can Lead To Serious Crimes

Originating with Jang Geun-won’s constant bullying of Lee Ho-jin (Lee David), on Saeroyi’s first day as a transfer student, he stepped up because he couldn’t take the sight of Jang Geun-won’s abuse.

Even if the teacher present stands by silently while Geun-won commits misconduct, owing to his status as the Chairman’s son, it is upsetting enough. Then it continues to go on how Geun-won caused the accident that resulted in Saeroyi’s father’s death, and how the truth about the accident was concealed and someone else was blamed for his heinous act.

This series of offenses, from little to large, reveals how powerful figures in society see laws and injustices blindly and just sweep them under the rug, as well as how they misuse their influence over those beneath them.

Similarly, the series illustrates the unjust system that exists in the real world, where those who are not adequately powerful or who do not belong to the upper class lack the ability to protect and fight for what is right.

A Shifted Targeted Purpose From Vengeance To Willingness To Live

From the beginning of his unrelenting quest to avenge his father’s death, Park Saeroyi had a miserable existence without his father beside him as he struggled to manage the small pub he established as part of his long-term goal of bringing down the Jangga Group.

This, however, changes when Saeroyi meets Jo Yi-seo, as seen in his dream when his father invites him to accompany him and to stop suffering by joining him in crossing the bridge of the afterlife. Despite his longing for his father’s presence, Saeroyi chooses to live because he has discovered a new purpose for living, and that reason is Jo Yi-seo.

A well-crafted character of Park Saeroyi that we can look up to not just as business enthusiasts, but also for his positive outlook on life and his refusal to bend down to any adversaries that stand in his way of achieving his ambitious dream.

We also commend Park Seo Joon for brilliantly expressing emotions and the life of Park Saeroyi, an ex-con who has attained sweet success with the help of his close associates. Other notable actors are also recognized in this series for portraying roles that left audiences in awe.
