K-PLUS Channel’s “The One and Only” Features Three Women At Death’s Doorstep With One Ultimate Goal

Each diagnosed with a terminal illness, three women befriend one another at “Morning Light,” a hospice center in The One and Only.

The One and Only chronicles an emotional romantic drama about three dying women. They decide to take down one bad guy before they die. In their attempt to take
down “just one person,” they wind up meeting the most valuable person of their lives.

Quick Story Sketch

To save Sana, In-sook’s (Ahn Eun Jin) 9-year-old neighbor who suffers from severe domestic abuse, the three women swing a golf club at Yong-geun, Sana’s father. The murder is far from a perfect crime, as it leaves Woo-cheon (Kim Kyung Nam) as a witness.

Much to their surprise, Woo-cheon helps them dispose of Yong-geun’s body. He seems to have deep knowledge on disposing dead bodies and the location of security cameras.

Having fallen in love with In-sook at first sight, Woo-cheon starts volunteering at Morning Light. Suspicious of Woo-cheon’s hidden motives, In-sook follows him around the center. As Woo-cheon and In-sook get to know one another, they start developing mutual strong feelings towards each other.

Meanwhile, Yong-geun’s dead body is found with a moss rose on the side of his head. Shi-yeong, the detective investigating the arrives at Morning Light in pursuit of his only suspect, Woo-cheon.

Meet The Characters

Ahn Eun-jin (as Pyo In-sook)

A back scrubber at a bathhouse with a terminal brain tumor. In-sook lost her hearing as a child. She sees fear in the neighbor’s child Sana. Sana is afraid that her father Yong-geun
will kill her one day. When the doctor first tells her that she doesn’t have much time to live, In-sook knows that she must kill Yong-geun before she dies.

The day she finally kills Yong-geun, In-sook meets Woo-cheon. As she ends up spending more time with Woo-cheon, she develops strong feelings toward him. The kind of feelings she has never experienced before.

 Kim Kyung-nam (as Min Woo-cheon)

A contract killer working at a private detective agency. Woo-cheon was constantly bullied at school because his family was poor. One day, he threw a punch at one of the bullies. That punch was all it took for Woo-cheon to fall from a straight-A student to a murderer.

With his life ruined from this unplanned murder, Woo-cheon has turned to killing for a living. His specialty is faking intentional homicides as accidental deaths. He falls in
love with In-sook at first sight.

Park Sooyoung (as Seong Mi-do)

A social media influencer with terminal lung cancer. Mi-do is living a glamorous life. Not only is she an influencer with 100,000 followers on her social media account, she also runs an online shopping mall.

It only took a moment for her to fall from the pinnacle of her life. Before she could understand what is happening, the doctor tells her she is in the final stages of lung cancer. After throwing a tantrum, Mi-do takes out her smartphone and posts a goodbye letter on her social media account. The reaction from her followers seems to make her feel better.

Kang Ye-won (as Kang Se-yeon)

A housewife with end-stage leukemia, Se-yeon lives an ordinary life. Se-yeon’s husband is somewhat authoritative, but she relies on him. Her husband wants his mother, who is suffering from Parkinson’s disease, to live with them before she passes away. He places this cumbersome obligation and responsibility on Se-yeon and comes home late every day.

When Se-yeon leaves to stay at the hospice center, the first thing her husband does is to find someone else to take care of his mother. That replacement turns out to be Se-yeon’s
mother. Infuriated, she decides to get a divorce.

Character Transformations To Anticipate

Unlike her previous bright and cheerful character in “Hospital Playlist 2,” Ahn Eun-jin now transforms into a character with a darker side in both appearances and acting.

Moreover, Kim Kyung Nam also devotedly transformed into his new role with his solid acting skills as a mysterious hitman who has walked a painful and difficult path in life.

With her detailed acting and determined voice, Red Velvet’s Joy illustrates the complex emotions of a famous influencer who doesn’t have long to live.

Together with Kang Ye-won as she showcases her outstanding acting skills through her role as a housewife who is between life and death.

The One and Only is helmed by Director Oh Hyun-jong, who directed Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo and written by writer Moon Jung-min who wrote Matrimonial Chaos.

The series premieres on K-PLUS channel on December 2021 at 8.00 PM SGT express from Korea. Encore streaming is also set every Saturday & Sunday at 9.15 PM SGT.
