Little Women Episode 4 Highlights

Deciding to brave her choices, In-joo visits their Great Aunt to ask for help so she can buy a house for her and her sisters. She also acquiesces to Do-il’s proposal of working with him to get the missing slush fund.

“Capitalism is a psychological game. There’s an emotion only the wealthy can overcome a sense of loss.”

In-joo checks on the apartment her aunt intends to sell to her. With perfect views and amenities, the apartment is in sorry contrast to the apartment they currently live in.

At the same moment, In-hye brings her friend Hyo-rin to their rundown place. The latter comments on how everything is real at Oh sisters’ house and how love is definitely given to her as the maknae. But In-hye responds that the love given does not need to be accepted and drags her friend out of the house.

Receiving a thought-provoking message from her Great Aunt, In-joo is convinced on using the money to turn their lives around.

However, In-kyung is firm on not keeping the bad money. But when In-hye fell ill after sniffing on the blue poisonous orchid housed secretly at Hyo-rin’s house, she agrees to use the money for the surgery.

Meanwhile, Park Jae-sang’s trusted aide, Su-im, reports on the progress of the campaign. She earlier gets a taunt from Do-il about being careful with her background checks as she intends to probe deeper about In-joo.

Suggesting a heartwarming story to push his popularity, his wife’s suggestion of helping In-hye with her surgery fits the bill for his calculated evil plan.

” I wonder why I wanted a different kind of love. Not the kind of love you get as the youngest sister or the kind of love you get growing up together.”

When In-hye regains consciousness, she sees In-kyung who promises she will be good and stop her alcohol dependence. Confessing her innermost thoughts, In-hye tells her sister how she seems unsatisfied with the kind of love she gets naturally. She hopes to get the kind of love for her painting, being good and useful. She also admits fearing she would have died before showing what she can do.

Just when In-joo has something important she can use the money she got from Hwa-young, she confronts Su-im which Do-il tried to warn her about. Cornered, she returned the money but bargained for a hundred million won she needed for In-hye’s surgery.

Ruthless Su-im agrees to give her the money if she can bear 10 hits from her. Mid-way In-joo fights the physical pain, just then, Do-il arrives to stop the brutal aide. But when she refuses to let go since In-ju relents, Sang-ah appears to put her back in her place.

Little Women

“During my four years with Hwa-young, she never told me this. That she had a rich friend.”

Sang-ah takes In-joo to the same restaurant she went to previously with Hwa-young. Surprised that she never heard from her dead friend that she’s close to a rich woman, Sang-ah presents pieces of evidence that In-ju easily recognized since there were dubious details in Hwa-young’s alt social media account.

Offered to work as her new secretary, In-joo agrees only if they can keep the relationship to a professional level and not be friends as Sang-ah initially hints. She also agrees to have an interview that would be used by Jae-sang’s campaign.

Of course, In-kyung didn’t like what happened but had to relent since the beneficiary is her beloved little sister. Unknown to everyone, she contacted their rich Great Aunt who paid for the bill just when the filming of Jae-sang’s good deed was wrapping up.

While eating, In-hye informs her sister that she will stay at Hyo-rin’s house and insists on her goal to study abroad. She also straightforwardly remarks that she needs to learn a lot and she can’t do that with her older sisters.

“In the last three years, Hwa-young has been living in Singapore under your name.”

Looking back on their conversation with their little sister, In-kyung wonders how much she has changed. Taking the opportunity, In-joo also tells her that she is bound to change and reveals she’s in possession of the ledgers about the slush fund Mr. Kim had managed before.

Conveying her grand plan to get more money so they can buy an apartment and send In-hye abroad, In-kyung realizes how the ledger would be an exclusive report she can do. But In-joo stops her imagination from going wild and insists on her plans.

Later, In-joo meets Do-il who tells her they can’t move with the ledgers yet and her task is to monitor Wang Sang-ah. Apparently, Do-il’s contact was able to trace the funds hidden by Hwa-young.

It turns out, that in her alternate life in Singapore, her name is Oh In-joo – and before her suicide, she split the 70 billion Korean won into different deposits under that name. Suddenly, it dawns on In-joo that all the English documents Hwa-young asked her to sign before.

Little Women Episode 4 Musings

Kim Go Eun, Nam Ji Hyun and Park Ji Hu are assimilated into their characters that it’s hard not to gravitate to the story and where it is heading. Listing theories are also given, but for fear of starting with new ones since the midpoint is around the corner, let’s settle with the current intrigue.

Taking Do-il’s words – indeed, In-joo is a “game changer”. Honestly, all the characters, even the featured flower, have distinct charms that help the entire picture of the series fascinating and enthralling.

It’s interesting to watch good characters that have tendencies to be bad and the suggested evil characters that have surprisingly good sides in them. Clever Cha Do-il knows well how they can use the tides in their favor now that Hwa-young’s crazy plan has involved the clueless In-joo all along.

Evoking thrill, it’s amazing to watch a melodrama as polished as Little Women with various unpredictable protagonists and volatile villains. The confrontations are done with grace and respect pushing a unique charm to the narrative.

Thanks to Hwa-young the chaotic life of Oh sisters has gotten more chaotic. Interestingly, Uhm Ji Won also mesmerizes with her portrayal which perfectly complements Uhm Ji Woon’s signature antagonist charm.

Will there be more secrets Hwa-young left for Do-il and In-joo to unearth? Will we finally have an evil flower as an accessory to the villains’ crime in K-Dramaland?

Root for the Oh sisters and their journey to find the meaning of life beyond money and power in Little Women! International fans can watch it on Netflix.
