Lovers of the Red Sky Episode 3 Key Moments
“Nothing is free in this world.”
After being asked to get down on the litter, Hong Cheon Gi walks in the woods finding her way to the Capitol. She then meets Samsin who disguises again as the old lady who bought her father’s painting. She convinces Cheon Gi to sit with her to warm herself since the night during winter solstice feels cold.
Cheon Gi falls asleep, and Samsin makes a way for them to be invisible to the demon. The demon arrives at their location after trusting what he has smelled, but he misses Cheon Gi who is with Samsin. Waking up from her sleep, Cheon Gi continues with her journey worrying that she still has a long way to go. Samsin tries to stop Cheon Gi, but she is settled with journeying at night.
“Once the Demon is awakened, another bloodshed will be inevitable.”
Just when the demon was about to touch Cheon Gi, Tiger Spirit arrives at the scene and interferes with the demon. Samsin also arrives and says that the demon never dies as it will only be sealed in Ha Ram’s body, and soon at the masterpiece Cheon Gi will paint.
Locking back the demon inside Ha Ram’s body, Cheon Gi sees Ha Ram who is unconscious falling from a tree. The lifters and the soldiers who were with Ha Ram die due to the demon’s force, and the king is informed about Ha Ram being missing.
“You must stay within the boundaries. It’s not something for you to cross.”
Alarmed with what happened with Ha Ram, the king orders Prince Yangmyeong to search for him. Rumors about Ha Ram being missing spreads outside the palace, and reaches Jung Seon Rye.
While Jung is punishing his underlings for losing Cheon Gi, Moo Young arrives. Being Ha Ram’s escort warrior, he confronts Jung on selling copies of original paintings, and tells them to wait for Ha Ram’s return. With that warning, Jung senses that there may be some truth to the rumors spreading.
“It’s a masterpiece where the gaps hold the spirit of nature.”
Prince Yangmyeong appreciates the painting of Kwak Yi, and observes every detail of it. However, he notices a butterfly in the painting, which then makes him realize that the painting is only a copy. He feels baffled and traces back where he bought the painting. He is then informed about the incident with Ha Ram, and he obeys the king’s order.
At the site of the investigation, Prince Joohyang and Mi Su look at the corpses. The officials question their identity but later bows down after being told that he is Prince Joohyang. After their visit, Prince Yangmyeong’s group arrives, and his identity is also questioned.
Similar to Prince Joohyang, the officials bow down after discovering he is Prince Yangmyeong. Through the investigations, they realize the possibility that the incident is not caused by a mere human, but instead by another being.
“A person’s dying out there and nobody cares?”
Cheon Gi looks after Ha Ram who is unconscious the whole night. She wakes up by his side, and she runs back to the painters’ society to ask for a doctor. However, she is locked in a room as punishment for staying out the whole night and injuring her precious right hand.
Gyeonju brings Cheon Gi food, and she is convinced of Cheon Gi’s reasons for staying out the whole night. She then accompanies Cheon Gi in bringing aid to Ha Ram. Moo Young tracks where Ha Ram is and arrives before Cheon Gi. He then hides as Cheon Gi arrives, leaving Ha Ram alone with her.
Ha Ram thanks Cheon Gi’s help, and asks for her name. He then feels that there are a lot of similarities between Cheon Gi and the girl that he met at the peach orchard when he was young.
Lovers of the Red Sky Episode 3 Musings
From the first two episodes, we now see the consequences of Prince Joohyang’s desire to covet the throne. With his simple desire of being the king, he unleashes a demon out of a painting causing havoc from time to time. His greed at his young age causes several deaths and misfortunes in several lives.
Compared to Prince Joohyang, Prince Yangmyeong is goofier, and obedient to his assigned role. His appreciation for the painting in this episode is very descriptive as he takes note of the strokes used and the energy possessed by the piece. He maintains the balance between his royal duties and daily leisure.
As Cheon Gi and Ha Ram find their way back to each other’s lives, we see crumbs of romantic scenes that can make our hearts flutter. It appears that some of Ha Ram’s memories are coming back. He becomes aware of his lost memories and the resemblance of Cheon Gi to the girl in his memories.
Cheon Gi would soon be joining a contest, and she would also soon meet Prince Yangmyeong. Their interaction as two characters who have a bright and somewhat amiable personalities is something to anticipate.
Moreover, scenes of Cheon Gi and Ha Ram together are yet to come, and it is something to look forward to. With the OST sung by Baekhyun at the end, viewers become more drawn to the sweet and hopeful tone of Cheon Gi and Ha Ram’s future relationship.
