Big Mouth Episode 9 Highlights
“I’m not foretelling the future. I’m telling you the truth that I saw.”
During his live broadcast, while the trial is ongoing, Chang-ho states his three predictions on the assumptions of the prosecution. Accurately with what Chang-ho said, the three defendants’ group chat, the motive for murder, and found DNA are presented in court.
Chang-ho continues how the three would flip the trial by claiming that they performed CPR, which explains the DNA found in Seo’s body.
Viewers of the broadcast become amazed at Chang-ho, calling him big mousetredamus. However, he reveals that he actually saw the dashcam of the incident, which explains his knowledge of everything.
Storming out of the courtroom angrily, Ji-hoon meets with the three and Prosecutor Choi. Figuring out how Chang-ho knows everything, the three remember Mayor Choi assigning Chang-ho as their attorney at first.
Barging into the room, Mayor Choi reprimands Ji-hoon on how the elder is unhappy with the attention drawn from Chang-ho’s broadcast.
Hye-jin calls Ji-hoon to trade the signed divorce papers in 20 minutes for Professor Seo’s paper. Despite Jae-ho’s violent reaction to it, Ji-hoon moves ahead in bringing the divorce papers to Hye-jin.
In addition to Professor Seo’s paper, Ji-hoon asks Hye-jin for Chang-ho’s location. As the police arrive at the location of the abandoned warehouse, they only see a screen of the broadcast.
“They killed him because it was worth killing him for.”
Just as Chang-ho predicted, the three get acquitted due to insufficient evidence. Outside the courthouse, reporters flood the three, and a truck with a big screen arrives.
On the screen, Chang-ho’s broadcast reveals the reason for the killing is because of Professor Seo’s paper. Shifting the screen, Ji-hoon is shown frustrated with what Hye-jin handed, demanding that the topic she handed is not Seo’s paper.
Hye-jin then also talks about the dashcam that proves the guilt of the three in the murder case. Hearing about the hidden camera, Ji-hoon spots it and chews it, destroying its live feed.
Behind the screen, Chang-ho shows up inside the truck. He goes down and challenges the prosecution to submit an appeal given what he has shown in the broadcast.
Mayor Choi comes just in time to save Hye-jin, Soon-tae, and Mi-ho’s father from Ji-hoon and his men. He warns Ji-hoon of the incoming reporters. On his exit, he fires a reporter from his company onsite.
Hye-jin leaves the divorce papers for Soon-tae to process and accepts Mayor Choi’s offer to send her to the airport.
Chang-ho tells the reporters of his abduction initiated by Ji-hoon and Prosecutor Choi. The police come to arrest him, and is permitted to meet his family before going. He then hears from Soon-tae that Jerry is still alive.
“The one who does the beating forgets, but the one beaten remembers forever.”
Soon-tae leaves Chang-ho’s note under his pillow, but someone with a tattoo on the wrist of big mouse’s symbol takes the note. Already awake, Jerry receives the note directly from the person, and he rips it after reading it.
Celebrating Chang-ho’s safe return, the room leader reports to him about the ghostly disease in prison commonly found in model inmates, which caused the lack of medical personnel inside.
Cutting their conversation, Chang-ho receives a visitor who turns out to be Ji-hoon. Desperate to get his money back, Ji-hoon offers to invest 100 billion Won on land that prohibits development.
Chang-ho declines the offer and reiterates his involvement in Professor Seo’s murder, but Ji-hoon tells him that he should be finding the other real person involved in the incident.
Doo-geun, Chae-bong, and Jae-ho visit the elder, and Mayor Choi also comes to hand the elder the copy and original file of Professor Seo’s paper.
Baffled with the mayor’s actions, the three remind Mayor Choi of his involvement in the murder. The mayor turns out to have known of the murder and asked the three to bring the body to his fishing spot. However, Mayor Choi orders his assistant to cause a car crash with the car of the three, revealing Seo’s body in the trunk.
Pleased with what Mayor Choi has done, the elder tells Joo-hee to support her husband.
Mayor Choi is shown to open a safe that contains gold bars and the original paper of Professor Seo, which he has secured ever since Hye-jin went missing.
“We won’t go down alone. You need to join us in hell.”
Seeing inmates lined up going out, Chang-ho hears about model inmates allowed to work outside.
Meanwhile, at Gucheon University Hospital, Mi-ho wonders how all the patients in their ward are discharged all at once. She then learns about a new set of patients coming in.
Called in Joo-hee’s office, Mi-ho is asked to resign after being caught on running a blood test on a patient who died in the hospital.
Mayor Choi meets Mi-ho outside offering her to talk to Joo-hee, but Mi-ho tells him that she will take responsibility and might give up on digging into Professor Seo’s paper.
The mayor also asks if she heard from Hye-jin and the professor’s paper, but Mi-ho tells him that she trusts Hye-jin.
Lining up for vitamins, the room leader tries to sneak in the line for model inmates, but gets denied from taking their vitamins. An inmate in the line then faints and coughs blood.
After leaving a note to meet at 8 pm as he has intel on Professor Seo’s paper, Chang-ho sees a justice card on the bible.
Mi-ho, who came to visit Jerry in the hospital, sees that his room is empty. Meanwhile, Chang-ho waits for ‘big mouse’ in the chapel, and he hears someone entering.
Big Mouth Episode 9 Musings
Doo-geun, Chae-bong, and Jae-ho may have been acquitted, but their release was more like a loss for them because of Chang-ho’s live broadcast.
As perpetrators in the case along with Gong Ji-hoon, they are too disorganized, which weakens their power to bring down Chang-ho. Mayor Choi turns out to have manipulated the turn of events since Professor Seo’s death.
Revealed to be holding onto the original copy of Professor Seo’s paper and gold bars in the safe, Mayor Choi is not as innocent as he may seem to be. However, this is not yet conclusive for him to be ‘big mouse’.
Jerry survives the car accident in the recent episode, but it also hints at how he could be possibly manipulated by the mysterious doctor that visited his room.
It has been entertaining to watch how Gong Ji-hoon’s character throws a fuss even though he is one of the drama’s antagonists. His suspicions of the mayor in the earlier episodes weren’t groundless after all since the mayor has now also shown to have hidden motives while using the people around him.
