Preparing for the nearing joint pep rally, Theia’s new members made a risky plan to fulfill their mission in the 3rd episode of Cheer Up.
Furthermore, a love triangle between Captain Park Jung-woo, Do Hae-yi, and Jin Sun-ho creates romantic tension.

Cheer Up Episode 3 Highlights
“You know the diss battle? That’s what the joint pep rally is about. Before the cheer, we get to drop on them with a diss phrase.”
After finishing their orientation and body conditioning training, Theia’s newbies are tasked with another mission. However, this task is tedious since they have to create a diss phrase according to the other cheering squad’s chosen songs.
With that, the newbies need to create diss phrases for every song the Hokyung cheering squad has, wherein they have a total of 50 chants. On top of that, their training continues, and they have to balance and manage their time wisely.
During their training, Captain Jung-woo and Jin Sun-ho set a taut atmosphere as Sun-ho becomes competitive and jealous of the captain.
For a working student like Do Hae-yin, the squad’s training schedule contradicts her part-time job. Luckily, Theia’s senior members listen to her concern and try to be understanding about her situation.
“If you have a friend at Hokyung, you can ask them when they’re drunk. Or, since cheering squads have their own club rooms, you could sneak in and take a picture. None but the brave deserves the fruit.”
As the newbies stress over their mission, the planning team — current students but inactive members — “rescues” them. These inactive members of Theia gave dangerous advice to the newbies to make their preparation for the joint pep rally manageable.
The advice is to get information from Hokyung students or sneak into Hokyung University and “steal” the squad’s lineup songs. Since Hae-yi and the others struggles, they randomly selected four people to sneak into Hokyung. Unfortunately, Hae-yi was picked along with Sun-ho, Sun-ja, and Jae-yi.
The four of them are disguised as Hokyung students and bravely sneak inside the club room. Hae-yi and Sun-ja went inside to find the song list while the other two are on the lookout.
Nonetheless, their plan failed as Captain Lee Ha-jin return to the club room and caught Hae-yi inside while Sun-ja successfully escaped.
“So, what kind of girl do you like, Captain? I’m just curious what kind of crazy high standards you have.”
Thankfully, Hokyung squad Captain is not as scary as Hae-yi thought and looks unsurprised that another squad team wants to steal their song list. Also, Captain Jung-woo calmly yet furiously went to Hokyung to get Hae-yi and made a deal with Captain Ha-jin.
He then let out his anger on Hae-yi and tells her to quit instead of causing harm to the entire squad. Little did he know that three more squad members are involved and this impulsive reaction hurt Hae-yin.
On the other hand, Sun-ho followed Hae-yi without her noticing. As Hae-yi calmed herself, she turns down Sun-ho’s confession again and tells him not to make any efforts anymore.
Moreover, Hae-yi quickly accepts Captain Jung-woo’s apology and spends the rest of the night drinking with him. Despite being drunk, Hae-yi knows that she is starting to have feelings towards the Captain, even when she denies it.
The next morning, Sun-ho plans on quitting Theia since he no longer has any reasons to stay. He was then interrupted when Captain Ha-jin arrived and the Theia member speculated that the two Captains are dating.
Furthermore, this sight broke Hae-yi’s feelings despite knowing that Captain Ha-jin already has a boyfriend.
Cheer Up Episode 3 Musings
With romance building up in the third episode of Cheer Up, the mysteries and dark past of Theia continue to spark the interest of viewers. The members of Theia also noticed similarities between the previous Captain, Yoo-min, and Hae-yi.
In Jung-woo’s past, Yoo-min accidentally died when a stage light fell on her. Like what has happened to her, a mysterious person threatens Hae-yi that she is a member who was mentioned in the third prophecy.
Recently, Hae-yi and Jung-woo were intentionally locked up in the basement like what has also happened to Yoo-min before. Will Hae-yi fulfill the last prophecy? Or will she be the key to breaking it and ending the misfortune of Theia?
On the other hand, Hae-yi’s reaction to the gossip of the relationship with the captain gave him hope. Despite his mantra of a “three-strike system,” Sun-ho will most likely pursue and win over again Hae-yi’s heart.
Let’s hope that the newbies’ emotions won’t get in their way to focus on their preparations for the joint pep rally.
