Cheer Up Episode 6 Highlights

“The cheering squad with a long history and tradition releases a new song at the festival every year.”

After Theia’s field trip and confession about their history to new squad members, most of the newbies left the team. Nevertheless, Hae-yi, Sun-ja, Yong-il, and Min-jae stayed and were tasked with another assignment.

Woo-chan orients them that they are in charge of composing a new song for Theia that will be performed at the festival. They will be working with the school’s band, but unfortunately, Hae-yi’s ex-boyfriend is a member of the band.

Furthermore, Sun-ho finally quits the team after conceding that Hae-yi has feelings for Captain Jung-woo. He then immediately found a girl and dated her knowing that he’ll immediately lose his feelings towards Hae-yi.

Conversely, Hae-yi felt small again now that Captain Jung-woo’s first love finally returns for good. Since Yoo-min’s arrival, she always sees him with Yoo-min.

“You should leave voluntarily. Or… Don’t take this money. If you’re only here for the money, it’s kind of awkward that you act like a member of the squad.”

Min-jae finally confronted Hae-yi about the contract he found at Young-woong’s bar. He also revealed that the sole reason why he enrolled at Yeonhee was to be part of Theia.

After knowing that Hae-yi has been receiving special treatment, he felt that this was unfair to other members who made an effort. With that, he threatens Hae-yi that he will reveal her deal with Young-woong if she persists to stay at Theia for money.

As she ponders what Min-jae’s said, Sun-ho’s comment on how she expresses joy when training struck her.

“There’s a person who doesn’t use his time to work on his resume. So, there must be people who date someone without money.”

Deciding to study in their club room, Hae-yi bumped into Captain Jung-woo coincidentally. They then go outside to catch up with each other while Hae-yi tries to open up about her conversation with Min-jae.

Their chat was cut off when they saw a couple near them celebrating an occasion. Hae-yi then complains about how dating requires a lot of money, especially since many anniversaries needed to be celebrated.

However, Jung-woo argues that one can freely date without thinking much about its expenses. He uses himself as an example who does not need money when dating.

“Then are you bringing her to Medical Students’ Night? Why not? You can bring a partner. Bring her. Let’s see that bold girlfriend of yours.”

Still ashamed that Hae-yi broke up with him, Jae-hyeok was pressured by his seniors to invite Hae-yi to their party and prove that they are still together. As he pleads Hae-yi to pretend as his girlfriend, she becomes more furious and rejects him.

However, at the Medical Students’ Night, Hae-yi unexpectedly arrives, which surprises Jae-hyeok and his seniors. At the venue, Sun-ho was also there with his new girlfriend, but he can’t take his eyes off Hae-yi.

As Hae-yi decides to go home, Jae-hyeok once again asks her to give their relationship another chance. Even so, Hae-yi is firm that she will not return to the man who is ashamed of her status.

“I feel like pulling out of this game might be worse than losing it. So, I’ve decided to waste my time on something useless. Because I don’t want to regret it. Let’s do it together. It might be fun with you.”

After seeing Hae-yi at the event, Sun-ho also finally made up his mind to return to Theia and end his relationship. With his return, Theia celebrated at Young-woong’s bar.

Additionally, Min-jae approached Hae-yi again with the contract but Hae-yi immediately tears the paper. She also assures him that she will give up the money just to stay at Theia.

During their celebration, Theia members became anxious that Hae-yi suddenly went missing. Unfortunately, Jung-woo found her unscathed and scolded him to not make him worry again.

Cheer Up Episode 6 Musings

Gradually, Hae-yi learns that life should not be dependent on money. Her choice of giving up the one thing she loves over cheerleading shows that she finally chose herself for the first time.

Since her father’s death, Hae-yi has sacrificed her freedom and aspirations to help her family. This time, it feels heartwarming that she can now give time for herself and enjoy college life.

On the other hand, the series continues to break viewers’ hearts with Sun-ho. Nevertheless, this episode also showed that Sun-ho has a new reason, other than Hae-yi, to return to Theia.

Despite being the second lead, Sun-ho easily won viewers’ hearts because of his character development. Even though he still plays with other girls’ hearts, we’ve seen that he found true love with Hae-yi.

Furthermore, Yoo-min’s return is suspicious after seeing that Hae-yi’s missing phone was with her. Is Yoo-min really a victim? Or does Theia’s misfortune fabricated by her?
