It’s quite a variety of K-Drama stories set to premiere next month!

Unlike last month with relatively romance stories dominating the batch, engaging plots about youth, friendship and careers are to be featured in June 2021 Korean dramas. Installments to revenge-driven love stories and fan favorites are also scheduled to please its designated fandoms.

Coming Up: June 2021 Korean Dramas

The Penthouse 3 | June 04 | SBS

Following its successful run, the high-rating and well-loved SBS series marked its return date. It will be broadcast once a week only every Friday beginning June 4.

Through its lead actors’ explosive portrayals and a story full of twists, The Penthouse: War in Life has scored two impressive seasons of record-breaking viewership ratings. It aims for a three-peat with its upcoming installment.

Picking up from what happened in Seasons 1 and 2, unprecedented development is expected in the coming season. New faces such as On Joo Wan and Park Ho San are added to the existing cast members further raising anticipation.


Love ft. Marriage and Divorce 2 | June 12 | TV Chosun

Picking up from its first season, the series continues to explore the three couples in their 30s, 40s, and 50s seeking the meaning of true love. After Pandora’s box was opened, the conflict between the three women is expected to intensify.

Everything comes unraveling for three successful women who work on a radio show as twists, turns, and troubles plague their seemingly happy marriages. The series stars Sung Hoon, Lee Tae Gon, Park Joo Mi and Lee Ga Ryeong as the main leads.

At A Distance Spring Is Green | June 14 | KBS

Billed to be an exciting campus series powered by a vibrant youth cast, the series stars Park Ji Hoon, Kang Min Ah, Bae In Hyuk, Kwon Eun Bin, Woo Davi and Choi Jung Woo.

In the drama, Park Ji Hoon portrays freshman student Yeo-jun of the Department of Business Administration at Myeongil University. His handsome appearance, flawless personality, and wealthy family add to a seemingly perfect life. Deep within, he nurses his inner wounds one by one and forms a complex relationship with the other characters in the story.

Monthly Magazine Home | June 16 | JTBC

Monthly Magazine Home threads on the story of a man who likes buying houses and a woman who prefers renting a house. The series takes on the topic of “owning or renting a house”, which is a nagging concern for people living in Korea and anywhere in the world.

Planning to deliver thoughtful and consoling messages, the latest project of Jung So Min and Kim Ji Seok also relays the meaning of having a house to a person.

To be directed by Lee Chang Min, expect zesty humor and heartening moments. Director Lee helmed the two seasons of the well-loved comedy series Welcome to Waikiki and spy-comedy drama Man To Man.

In charge of writing the script is Myung Soo Hyun who is recognized for her insightful concepts usually highlighting the lives of single people. She has worked on the two installments of Drinking Solo, A Poem A Day, and Ugly Miss Young Ae.

Hospital Playlist 2 | June 17 | tvN

Critically-acclaimed and well-loved series Hospital Playlist preps up for its second season. Still keeping its sole Thursday slot airing, all actors from the first season are also set to reprise their roles.

Photos from the table-read session were also unveiled signaling the beginning of the production.

Hospital Playlist explores the amazing bond among five friends who have stayed close with each other since attending medical school together 20 years ago. They can practically read each other’s minds and know each other like the back of their hands.

In their 40’s life begins for each of them. With careers as doctors, the pragmatic lives of people living, dying, and just passing by in the hospital will be narrated from their different perspectives.

Voice 4 | June 18 | tvN

Sealing tvN’s weekend slot in June, Song Seung Heon joins Lee Ha Na as the new face of Voice 4. It continues the story of the emergency call center team tasked to safeguard the “golden time” of a crime scene.

Voice 4 is going to draw a bold new golden time cooperation between a voice profiler and an uncompromising principle-based detective. Together, they tackle the appearance of a killer who commits a brutal crime. Helming Voice 4 production is Director Shin Yong Hwi who worked on Tunnel and Cross. Writer Ma Jin Won pens the fourth season anew.

For the last three seasons, Voice is marked as OCN’s original drama. Previously, it was reported that the series will go for dual broadcast, but it was finalized to a channel transfer. Hence, this will be premiering this June on tvN.

Nevertheless | June 19 | JTBC

Traversing the push and pull of romance, Nevertheless targets a youth story that would appeal to viewers craving for romantic series. Director Kim Ga Ram of Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency, Devilish Charm and Vampire Detective fame, is in charge of the production.

Derived from a webtoon serialized in 2019, its live adaptation threads on the story of a woman who wants to love even though she doesn’t believe in it and a man who likes to flirt but does not want to date.

On The Verge Of Insanity | June 23 | MBC

The series traverses the fierce survival of middle-aged workers struggling in a turbulent workplace. On The Verge Of Insanity is billed to provide pleasant emotion and sympathy especially tackling the up and downs of being an employee. It stars Jung Jae Young, Moon So Ri, Lee Sang Yeob and Kim Ga Eun who are employees of Hanmyung Electronics Household Appliances Division.

Directing the series is Kim Geun Hong who worked on Queen Seondeok, Jumong, and Welcome 2 Life. Penning the script is writer Jung Do Yoon of Baby-faced Beauty and Witch At Court fame.
